New Years Eve and Unicorns in the Snow

Wednesday, December 30, 2009 Today was another stunning day at Silverstar, Canada. The blue sky peeped through the drifting snow clouds early this morning. Rugged up in our ski gear with not an ounce of flesh showing we skied down to the chairlift. As we rose through the mist of the valley to the top of the mountain the view out to the Rocky Mountains and the valleys off in the distance revealed itself.

The beauty here is breathtaking, a white landscape every way you turn with tall snow covered fir trees making it look like a fairyland including a very special unicorn....

The groomed slopes are a joy to ride, with very few skiers or snowboarders around us. Roger and I headed off on a forest trail which was  saw me fall a few times on a soft feathery bed of powder snow as the bends were a bit tricky... and with the speed I would rather the snow than the tree!

With New Years Eve upon us (I know in Austr alia and England you are already in the year 2010! Happy New Year to you!) my mind turns to appreciation for the year that has been and also to what is to unfold.

I will touch base again tomorrow!

Lenny and Tanya's Wedding

Saturday, May 02, 2009 Tanya and Lenny contacted me last August and booked me to be their celebrant for their wedding on the lagoon side lawn at the beautiful Breakfree Aanuka Beach Resort. Over the last nine months we had done all of the planning and writing of the ceremony via the telephone or by email. We wrote a very simple ceremony as they wanted to keep it short so their little one year old boy, Nate, would enjoy it. Nate, was gorgeous and his beautiful smile was precious - and he is certainly adored by his mum and dad!

After all the rain that we have had in Coffs Harbour, I know Tanya and Lenny were breathing a sigh of relief when they arrived at the resort and we were finally getting a break in the clouds. With over 70 guests coming it was gearing up to be an exciting weekend. I met them for the first time on Friday for the rehearsal. Many of their guests had travelled from New Zealand, including Lenny's mum and his family. The rehearsal was lots of fun with everyone enjoying the relaxed atmosphere.

This morning was beautiful - blue skies with puffy white clouds on the horizon. Lenny was joined with Tama and Moana and they all looked very handsome. Nate was joined by friends Sam (5) and Jada (4) who held his hands to walk up the aisle before being joined by the bridesmaids, Karina and Maya. Tanya's mum escorted Tanya to stand beside Lenny. They all looked very beautiful with big smiles!

It was a deeply moving ceremony and a few tears were shed as we remembered and honoured Lenny's father who was dearly loved and missed.

After declaring their commitment to each other and to their beautiful son, Nate, Lenny and Tanya exchanged their vows and rings. Without further ado I was very happy to declare Lenny and Tanya husband and wife!

Congratulations Lenny and Tanya!
