It is both gentle and powerful. Wendy is a remarkable person\, with a soul that seeks to connect – and who succeeds in creating a safe space for others to delve inside themselves\, to explore and enrich what living and dying means to them – and to learn what more they can do to connect with the earth – in life and death. I have benefitted greatly\, and appreciate it all.” Moira Hill End of Life Conversations End of Life Coach & Educator\, England. \n“I have loved the variety in the programme. The highlight has\, however\, been focusing my Life Review around the concepts of forgiveness and gratitude … so powerful on so many levels\, both personally and professionally!” Helen Rutledge\, Celebrant\, New Zealand \n“Wendy Haynes is incredible. The challenge of considering ones imminent death is confronting however Wendy encourages openness\, compassion\, empathy and understanding of an individuals thoughts and beliefs. This program has allowed me to consider death openly\, for myself\, for my family and for others. Wendy’s guidance has allowed me to embrace my passion of assisting others preparing for death. I confidently have the foundations to proceed with End of Life Doula training\, thank you Wendy.” Heather Hinton\, Celebrant\, NSW\, Australia. \n“The program and Wendys presence & guidance have benefited my life\, relationships & decisions profoundly! I am 22 years old  and I have learned so much about myself and my desires\, perceptions and deepened the connection with myself and others. I have already shared and recommended the program to everyone around me.  Because I started talking about death\, suffering and disconnection with my family\, friends & colleagues they got really curious and also inspired. I love the gatherings and practices that brought me back to myself and supported me to speak and listen from my heart: being authentic & present. Talking about death during the sessions\, I started feeling during the month more & more alive and intensify my relationships. I could write so much more but i would recommend you to just trust and go on the journey\, I promise that the programme will be a huge gift for you. Everyone will have their own unique experience and understanding.” (Elisa\, Student\, Germany) \n“Wendy’s course is so full and rich. There’s so much to learn about the practicals of the life journey\, and to uncover the deep learnings that come from within. All in all – a very special uncovering of how it just might feel if you are given an ‘end date’. I’m so grateful to be part of this group.” Julie Weston – Celebrant\, Australia

SUMMARY:Empathy Circle - General Topic
DESCRIPTION:What’s alive for you in this moment? In this session our basic foundation will be that of empathic or deep listening. Authors of the program\, Ongo: Everyday Nonviolence\, Catherine Cadden and Jesse Chu\, write\, ‘Empathy turns the listening up in our heart and quiets the mind by engaging our sense of curiosity about ourselves and others. We consider empathy to have five components in this order: curiosity\, mindful presence\, intention to connect\, focus on universal needs and confirmation.’ \nDeep listening\, holding space and offering your presence. \nIn our sessions there is an invitation for everyone to speak – there won’t be an official timekeeper so it’s important you feel into this so that everyone’s voice\, including your own\, can be heard. If you feel you’d like a timekeeper when you are speaking\, ask if one of the members of the group would be happy to do that for you. \nThe basics for deep listening are simple: listen with curiosity\, mindful presence and intention to connect with the person speaking. Refrain from asking questions\, analysing or fixing\, advising\, commiserating\, changing the topic etc.  I will introduce this in the group at the start and\, if you have any questions\, please give voice to them. \nIf you are new to empathy circles please read more about the Deep Listening Process here\nDeep listening\, holding space and offering your presence. \nIn our sessions there is an invitation for everyone to speak – there won’t be an official timekeeper so it’s important you feel into this so that everyone’s voice\, including your own\, can be heard. Refrain from asking questions\, analysing or fixing\, advising\, commiserating\, changing the topic etc.  I will introduce this in the group at the start and\, if you have any questions\, please give voice to them. \nMore information about Nonviolent Communication (NVC) and deep listening\nWhen it’s your turn to speak\, take a breath and just let yourself relax into what wants to be voiced by you. It may or may not make sense to others…or yourself. Notice if your attention is getting caught up in your own thoughts about what you are saying – for example\, judgements of whether or not it’s a good\, wise\, stupid response or whether you are talking too much or too little. Simply notice\, breathe\, bring presence to the moment and return to whatever wants to be spoken through you. \nWhen its your turn to listen – listen in silence\, be curious about connecting fully with what is being said and shared\, connect with the person speaking. If you notice your mind wander to what you will say or other thoughts about what is being said\, simply notice and bring your attention back to the person speaking. \nThe request is to practice deep listening and refrain from asking questions\, pushing to go deeper or furthering the process. If someone has sadness or fear or joy arise. Let this be here. If it’s uncomfortable or difficult feel the support of the earth beneath you\, and take a breath or two. Hold the space with your presence and refrain from fixing\, advising\, analysing\, interpreting\, judging\, sympathising etc. Connect and hold space for whatever is happening. \nAs the speaker\, when you are finished – you might feel that being heard was enough and thank the listeners OR you may wish to ask for a reflection from one of the listeners or request a ‘shower of needs’. These requests can really ensure you feel heard and seen in the way you would most appreciate. \nFour options for the speaker to receive confirmation: \n\nTo be heard was enough.\nReflection: one of the listeners can offer a brief reformulation of what they heard you say – again the the request for no analysing or fixing\, dismissing\, correcting\, advise giving. Keep the reformulation simple  – offer a guess of one or\, at the most two needs\, you may have heard being spoken to. i.e. “I heard you say that you feel distressed about the conflict with your sister and I am guessing you need harmony and to know you matter.”\nShower of needs: The group can reflect upon what you said and what needs they heard. Four or five people can offer you one need. No explanation needed. “I’m guessing you might have a need for connection”. “Belonging”.  “To know you have been heard”.  etc. The speaker may wish to close their eyes and connect with how the need word lands\, breathing into any inner response and opening to the life energy of that need.\nOr\, you may wish to honour and speak to the group one or two of the needs that you connect with.\n\nWhen you have finished\, say thank you or offer a bow\, or show some way that you have finished. Then someone in the group may suggest\, ‘let’s take a breath together’ before the next person speaks. \nBrief overview of NVC   https://www.cnvc.org/learn-nvc/what-is-nvc \nGreat bigger picture: https://www.nonviolentcommunication.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/09/What-is-NVC-Information.pdf \n\nFourth Thursday of the month at 6.30pm – 8pm AEDT. There is no need to make a regular commitment just come when you can. See here for your timezone.  \nSubscribe here to receive emails with meeting links for all sessions. SUMMARY:Ongo: Everyday Nonviolence 12 week program
DESCRIPTION:This program is now fully booked! \nLoving kindness\, compassion and wisdom? At the kitchen sink while trying to get people to help with the dishes or your kids to walk the dog. \nOr\, while trying to engage as a team at work and there’s a troublemaker in the group. Or\, in a committee meeting one person is\, in your opinion\, just wrong. ‘I mean\, why can’t they see that?’ \n Or\, meeting with a family member where one roll of the eyes and a tone of voice set off a familiar pattern of disconnection? \nIn life\, there are many moments where disconnection\, frustration\, sadness\, anger\, righteousness\, rage\, helplessness (the list goes on) can be activated.  If you would like:  \n\nto relate to each other in a more collaborative way that brings connection even when you disagree with them \nto be able to  listen and speak more effectively and with kindness for oneself and others \nto know what’s most important in your life and be able to live by those values \nto live with an authentic quality of presence even when things get tough \na greater capacity to meet the challenges and resolve emotional and mental conflict \n\nand meet some wonderful people from around the world\, then you might like to join an Ongo program. \nThrough the cultivation of mindfulness and the practice of nonviolent communication\, this 12 week online program offers practical exercises and teachings that are applicable at home\, in business meetings\, leadership development\, special interest groups etc.   \nWe will be using the online platform Zoom for the weekly guided group sessions. You will also ‘buddy’ up with a partner once a week\, online or over the phone\, to do a guided practice (from the Ongo book) that can take approximately 30-60 minutes. There are also solo practices to do most days – sometimes as simple as reading a quote and reflecting upon it to doing a journal exercise that might take 30 minutes. While it is understood you may not be able to make it to each session\, it is important to read the weekly group practice as each one forms a foundational step for the next week. This program is offered freely. \nThis 12 week program starts on  Monday 15th February 2021\, occurring every Monday until and including the 3rd May 2021. 7-845pm AEDT. Please note that NSW reverts back to AEST on the 4.4.21 so if you are from another state or country you will need to make note of the change. After 4.4.21  start time will be 7pm AEST. \n
