We Remember Them

Words of Remembrance for Gordon Weick

“Gordon loved his family and friends. He was a smart man, a successful man, and a man whose generosity and kindness will be remembered by many.

He loved the simple pleasures of life, especially being outdoors on the farm, spending time with the cattle, and keeping an interest in the things that mattered to those he loved.

He was proud of his family and especially loved being a Pop.

You will remember Gordon as a goer, someone who stayed involved, and enjoyed being part of life. And so today, while there is sadness, there is also gratitude.

Gratitude for the father, pop and great poppy he was.

Gratitude for the friend, neighbour, businessman, council and community member he became.

Gratitude for the conversations, the generosity, the support and the love.

Gordon will be greatly missed by all who loved him.

May he rest in peace.”

And the family chose this poem,  We Remember Them by Rabbis Sylvan Kamens and Jack Riemer

At the rising of the sun and at its going down

We remember them.

At the blowing of the wind and in the chill of winter

We remember them.

At the opening of the buds and in the rebirth of spring

We remember them.

At the blueness of the skies and in the warmth of summer

We remember them.

At the rustling of the leaves and in the beauty of autumn

We remember them.

At the beginning of the year and when it ends

We remember them.

As long as we live, they too will live;

for they are now a part of us as we remember them.
