The music, from MaMuse is the back drop for just some of the photos of our immersion into Jarrangbarni Gorge in Kakadu National Park, N.T. I walked with a gorgeous bunch of wonderfully alive and wild women. It was hard, challenging, wonderful, beautiful and powerful.
As the mindfulness facilitator, I had the privilege of weaving practices into our days that kept bringing us back: back to the landscape, back to our bodies, back to one another, back to the breath, and back to the experience of being exactly where we were.
To be present to beauty, even when the walking was hard. To stop and really take in the colours — the deep oranges, the browns and blacks, the blues, the greens. To drink pristine water, swim in warm rivers, laugh and play, and sit around the fire at night.
There was effort and there was ease, there was sweat and silence, there was challenge and delight.
Through our days and nights, the invitation was the same: pay attention: to where we are, to what is alive, to what is difficult, to what is beautiful, to ourselves and to each other and to be curious and present.
In the coming posts, I’ll share some of the practices I shared while on this beautiful Country.
This short video captures a little of our time together — a wild, joyful, magnificent sisterhood in Kakadu.
